There are some staple products we love to have for home cleaning that pair nicely with essential oils. Our goal at The Healing Place Farm is not to use chemicals for cleaning. There are times that you need some heavy-duty cleaners (i.e. septic back up). For day-to-day cleaning, we add essential oils to a variety of items that create cleaners for all sorts of surfaces and jobs. As always, check your surface recommendations before utilizing any of these choices.
Baking Soda: It is inexpensive to purchase and acts as a gentle abrasive.
Borax: A combination of water, oxygen, sodium, and boron which boosts detergent, or you can use it to create your own laundry soap.
Castile Soap: Liquid castile soap is sold here at the Shop and in other stores too. Castile soap is a multi-surface cleaner and can be used to clean almost anything.
Essential Oils: Sold in a variety of stores and shops (Our favorite choices for essential oils include, Citrus, Tea Tree, Lavender, Lemon, Eucalyptus, Rosemary). Essential oils can disinfect, deodorize, and add a beautiful aroma to your home.
Washing Soda: Washing soda is commonly called sodium carbonate and known as soda ash which is a natural water softener. It helps to dissolve soap scum.
White Vinegar: You can purchase white vinegar in many stores. The acidity of vinegar is great for grime, dirt, and dissolving messes to make them wipeable. (Do not use it on natural stone surfaces or wood surfaces. Use water instead on stone and manufacturer directions for wood floors/surfaces.)
