Sometimes we need some ideas. Sometimes we need someone to give us permission. Other times we need to know that even the most minor "try" is enough. Today is the day. How do you care for you?
Give gratitude to your body every day. While in the shower, allow yourself to relax and feel the water mindfully flow over your body. Give gratitude that you are healthy.
What part of your body needs attention? Where do you feel aches, pains and low energy? Nurture that part of your body.
Find one humorous moment in every day. Smile and laugh often.
Add music to your life in some way.
How are you creative? Consider: Baking, walking barefoot in the grass, dancing, writing a sentence on a piece of paper that you hadn't planned or take a skipping step. Start simply.
Dare to live passionately embracing things you love.
Allow quiet time. Sit in a comfortable chair, on your patio/porch, in a quiet space. Take a walk in the woods. Listen for the birds, snap of falling branches, crunch of the snow....be present. Gaze at the sunrise or sunset. Determine how much quiet time you need and honor that.
Spend time with nature, drink in your surroundings to nurture yourself and feed your spirit.
Acknowledge the special events in your life. Celebrate life.
Surround yourself with like minded people. Focus on those that are loving, caring, supportive and nurturing.
Find a connection to your spiritual self. Embrace it. Protect and nurture it while honoring your time committed to nourishing that relationship.
Ask for help. Don't be afraid to fail. Be courageous enough to fail.
Self care is beautiful. It is a commitment to self and very difficult to achieve. Visualize one behavior at a time. Then actualize your vision. To think you might be able to practice all of these ideas is impossible. If you even attempt one step, you are successful. Reward yourself for the slightest "try". Most of all, return to the list and try again. Trust yourself.
