I read this great piece about (adult) life phases from The Center to BE. It was so thought provoking that I wanted to share it with you as we all traverse these same waters. We don't all take the same paths but we all are searching, healing and growing. As we age, our need for growth in body, mind and spirit expands. We determine what is important vs what is more frivolous. We value our time more and are selective with those whom we choose to spend it.
Ages 15-16: Move toward intimacy (relationship development/not only sexual). Not enough ego within and not satisfied with self. Move toward existential anxiety. There is a deep sense of loneliness for this age group. While searching, develops creativity.
Age 21: Breaking Loose!
Ages 21-28: Building the Nest. Work toward goals. Select a mentor 25 years their senior. Expansive mastery over their destiny.
Ages 29-34: Looking Around. Stage of crisis and questions. Asks the question....Is this really what it is all about? If people are having difficulty determining their identity, crisis evolves. Also, if an additional situation crisis occurs it often gets stuffed. But garbage comes loose at 30 years.
Ages 35-45: Mid Life Rebirth. Gathering of possessions. Desire to stop the internal stress. Reflects on decisions. Awareness of death and realize that life is probably half over. Values are considered.
Ages 46-69: Investing in Life. Remodeled life. Money and status considered. Increased attention to family, friends and grandparents.
Ages 70-90: Deepening Wisdom. Will, resources. Maintain self or death, illness and disease
Maturational crisis every 7 years.
