As we approach the end of the year a new page in our calendar will be turned. Not only is it a new month but a new year. We may review what happened in the year....what went well, what didn't go so well and what we might like to change in the next year. As you review or contemplate consider what you might be willing to do for yourself. What might make your world a better or different place?
Are you stuck in the same essential oil story day in and day out? Might you step out of that box and choose something that might be unfamiliar. Perhaps think about the qualities of the essential oils that you know and look for a therapeutic application instead. For example, I happen to love Patchouli. Patchouli is not always the best friend for someone that is looking for an uplifting combination. Patchouli is indeed wonderful for anxiety, stress, depression and for skin conditions but maybe another choice might be better if you are looking for brightness. Two of my favorite essential oils are orange and lemon. Both pack a punch for getting the cheer on and the hum drums out. For an added zip I like to add a little peppermint essential oil to either the orange or lemon. For a warmer comforting uplift consider adding some vanilla essential oil to the orange or lemon.
Diffuse, dilute in jojoba, sunflower, lotion, bath water, make a room spray or roll on. The possibilities are endless and this is just my personal example. What favorite can you set aside or combine with something else to create a different "take" on your world? What oils await with a therapeutic connection that you have been looking for or didn't even know existed? If you don't know where to start, come to the shop or schedule an aromatherapy consult. The possibilities are endless. Approach 2017 with grace knowing that you can choose creativity which can benefit health. Stop.....smell the herbs, the grasses, the flowers, the roots, the bark, the leaves, the resin, the fruit....smell the oil and change your world.
It is so difficult to believe that a month has elapsed since my last post. These thirty days have been a flurry with more than 1000 people visiting the farm. I have known for many years that we are never promised anything and to be grateful. 27 years ago I taught this to my young daughter. I always reminded her that no one owed her anything and to be grateful for everything. Today, I live it once again, this time it is more personal.
This holiday season I am reminded of that lesson. Many individuals graced my doorstep these last four weeks. Each person came with different needs and motives for shopping in my little farm store. The shelves were particularly full with attention paid to every last detail. People shopped for their loved ones, friends, card groups, book clubs, corporate partners, teachers and for themselves. Gifts were selected for acquaintances so a "one stop shop gift set" was the perfect gift. There were more choices this year and the packaging was new/improved.
What continued to weave throughout the days was the kindness of those that entered. Each individual exhibited the most kind, generous and confident heart. There were hands lent to help, voices used to comfort and time to actually talk with those around. Laughing went on and on with glances at "Poop Genie". Yes, it does really work.
The gist for me is the mesmerizing view of the love, that surrounded the farm. It is memorable and something I will never forget. It was a month of gratitude, profound gratitude. Thank you for choosing my little farm store. It means the world to me....because I know you don't have to. I'm grateful for everything.
