Do you struggle to be creative? I don't mean in a sense of drawing, painting or crafting. Do you wish that you might be able to think outside of your well trodden path of daily routine, life? What might be the impetus to get you to try? Just try. How about a great read with some activities that you might not have thought about attempting (low or no cost)? While there is writing involved in this workbook (called "Morning Pages"), it's not all about writing. It's about the attempt and the process of getting out of your well worn path if you want to. Oh....the timeliness of the New Year. Honestly, that came as an afterthought.
Sit down with a cup of tea, an essential oil diffusing or a new mindset and give the book/workbook, The Artist's Way by Julia Cameron a try. Note there is a book and a workbook. I had both because the workbook often relates back to the book. Some folks I know only had the workbook. There are 110 tasks and 50 check-ins. I liked the "doing" when I worked through it. Remember that this is a process, a commitment. The "Morning Pages" can be daunting at first and then you might really start to look forward to them.
We make time for the things that are important to us. If you don't have that 30 minute estimate of time daily that the book suggests, how about giving up some screen time? TV time? Scurry around time? Committing to yourself is very DIFFICULT. I know you can do it. If it's not through reading or writing or doing, what might grasp your "Yes"? Maybe you feel just fine where you are and that's FABULOUS! But, if you need a work around to unlock some potential that is waiting for an official barrier break through consider giving The Artist's Way a try.
For me, a little Patchouli/Lavender or Patchouli/Cedarwood or conversely Orange/Litsea and Bergamot with a titch of Peppermint diffusing/in a roller or aromastick are great adjuncts for my "Morning Pages". They help either settle me (Patchouli blends) or bring a bit of zip to my step (Citrus/Mint).
Enjoy contemplating your next steps whatever they may be. Add a bit of aromatherapy to your day and breathe into wherever you are headed.
